In line with its core mission to increase the capacity of the state's nonprofit sector and to help Gulf Coast and South Mississippi nonprofits rebuild after the nation's worst-ever hurricane, the Mississippi Center for Nonprofits has launched Operation R.I.S.E. (Rebuilding Infrastructure in Service Entities). Operation R.I.S.E. is an initiative to gather resource information and needs assessments from nonprofit organizations to help organize more efficient, effective hurricane recovery efforts. Its aim is to lift up the nonprofit sector through collaboration and coordination. The initiative utilizes this website, www.operationrise.org, as a tool for interactive communication so that nonprofits, funding organizations, and individuals can "get on the same page" and know what it is that each other need and can provide as we all work together to recover and rebuild. A guiding principle of Operation R.I.S.E. is unity among nonprofit organizations with the goal of fostering effective communication between agencies and, thus, effective recovery and rebuilding efforts. And, in the future, this website and intitiative can evolve to serve the entire state and nonprofit sector as a unifying link so all voices can have a platform from which to interact and communicate.
